Yahoo, Vice, The Week, Business Insider and a stack of lifestyle sites have all run explainers on it this year. Video essayists are dissecting it. Mainstream culture finished validating this months ago.
Crypto has not
That is the asymmetry. A movement with a year of mainstream coverage behind it, and a ticker still trading in five figures with dex paid. Crypto Twitter is barely awake to it. Attention arrives after culture, never before.
The honest risk
Critics read the whole thing as infantilising, and performed whimsy does get boring fast. Worth knowing. It also has not stopped the trend line once all year.
